All the parties have started their campaign keeping 3 December, the result day, in mind.

NEW DELHI

With the Election Commission announcing the date of the Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, the political stage is set for a dramatic showdown as Madhya Pradesh gears up for a significant election. All the parties have started their campaign keeping 3 December (the result day) in mind. Despite being in the I.N.D.IA bloc, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will also contest the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election against Congress.

As the Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh on 17 November, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started the campaign by aiming to again come into power. So far, the BJP has released four lists of candidates.

CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan made a big promise on Friday. CM has promised to provide land to the homeless people living in the state after forming the government again. Along with this, he has also given a piece of good news to all the women in the state.

CM said, “Those who have been living in Madhya Pradesh for the last several years but do not have land will be given land. Plots will be provided to the homeless people in the state so that they can get relief under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). At the same time, houses will be built under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme so that no one remains without a house.”
CM Chouhan further said, “Women who are currently not getting the benefits of the ‘Laadli Behna’ scheme do not need to worry as we will later ensure that they are also included in the scheme.” He also promised that after coming into power again, his government would gradually increase the monthly benefit given under the scheme to Rs 3000 in a phased manner.”
He said the ‘Laadli Behna’ scheme has increased the respect of women at home, as now the family members of these women treat them with respect.

Currently, the government is providing Rs 1,250 as financial assistance to all the women in the state who are eligible under the Ladali Behna scheme.

On the other hand, Congress is yet to finalise its candidate list for the upcoming Assembly election. Sources said Congress will release its first list of candidates on 15 October and its second and third lists on 16 and 17 October, respectively, and they will also announce their manifesto on 16 October.

A party insider told this paper that the party has almost finalised the names of the candidates in the party meeting held on Friday in Delhi. The insider also said of a few names of the candidates who will surely contest the election. Names of these candidates are Sanjay Yadav from Bargi, Lakhan Ghanghoria from Jabalpur East, Vinay Saxena from Jabalpur North, Tarun Bhanot from Jabalpur West, Kamalnath from Chindwara, Dr Satish Sikarwar from Gwalior East, Praveen Pathak from Gwalior South, Jitu Patwari from Rau, and Lakhan Patel from Narshingpur, Ajay Tandon from Damoh Atif Aqeel from Bhopal North, PC Sharma from Bhopal South-West, and Arif Masood from Bhopal Central.
Despite being in the I.N.D.IA bloc, the Aam Aadmi Party will also contest the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election against Congress. However, the Congress, a member of the Opposition I.N.D.IA bloc like the AAP, currently has power in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.

Delhi Chief Minister and the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, said, “We are prepared to contest the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh with full strength,” adding: “Whatever happens will be analysed “ with regard to whether his party would run in the elections as a member of the I.N.D.I.A group.

In the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, AAP contested 208 seats, but couldn’t open its account. With 114 members, the Congress was declared the single-largest party. 109 seats went to the BJP. Following the widespread resignation of the state’s ruling MLAs, the BJP later established a government in the state.

The Election Commission has announced that Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh will be held in a single phase on 17 November. The votes will be counted on 3 December, along with those from Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.
