The smartphone industry is getting ever more competitive. Each month, the stores are flooded with new launches, unveilings or teasers. Every device comes laden with new features and top-notch specs. Big smartphone brands, like Samsung, HTC, Lenovo and now Google, are vying with each other not only in terms of getting the most sales—the game is now about generating the most attention. Thus, the new range of mobiles comes packed with features that are as useful as they are futuristic. In the coming weeks, we’ll see these same brands unveil next-gen smartphones. We present to you here five of the most anticipated smarphones, slated to be launched this year.

GOOGLE PIXEL 2

Google Pixel 2’s rumours are spreading everywhere. According to US FCC website the regular variant of the smartphone will be manufactured by HTC. The display of the device will be sqeezable and the device will support Active Edge squeezable frame which means that users will be able to perform certain functions of the phone by simply sqeezing sides of the display screen. Pixel 2 will sport Android 8.0.1 and comes with the security patch and will be powered by either Snapdragon 836. The reports also suggest that Pixel 2 will be the first phone to support Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 836 SoC.  The smartphone is expected to come with in-built storage of 64GB and 4GB of RAM WITH 128 GB of internal storage. The rumours also suggest that the device will come with “Always On” display mode. As per the leaks, Pixel 2 will feature 4.95-inch full-HD and 5.99-inch QHD display which will be manufactured by LG. The device will also support NFC, Bluettoth and Wi-fi. Google Pixel 2 is expected to release in October.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 8

Samsung Galaxy Note 8’s recent teaser video has spread a lot of speculation. The teaser video indicates that the handset will be bigger than Galaxy S flagship mobile and will feature similar design with the S pen stylus. According to the leaks, rear dual camera will have 12-megapixel sensor with dual pixel autofocus and 13-megapixel telephoto lens. The sensors on the device come with optical image stabilisation and 2X optical zoom. Galaxy Note 8 will run on Android 7.1.1 and will be powered by octa-core Samsung Exynos 8995 SoC. The device will com,e with 6GB of RAM AND 64GB of in-built starage. The handset will also feature 6.3-inch QHD+ display and will also come with 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel dual camera sensors. Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be launched on August 23.

HUAWEI MATE 10

Huawei Mate 10 is under a lot of speculation and rumours especially after the images of the phone were leaked. The rumours reveal that the device may sport bezel-less display and support metal unibody design just like its predecessor. The dual camera might be of Leica which comes with the fingerprint scanner right below the camera module. The device might come with 6.1-inch display with Quad HD resolution with all-screen display technology. Mate 10 will support dual camera set up both in the front and rear. The handsedt will be powered by HiSilcon Kirin 970 SoC and run on Android 8.0 with Huawei’s UI. The handset will also come with iris scanner, 2K resolution, facial recognition, AR compatibility and 3D sensing. Huawei Mate 10 is expected to release by end of 2017.

SONY XPERIA XZ1

Sony Xperia XZ1 might get unveiled in Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA) 2017. The phone specs and images has been leaked out from Slashleaks.com. According to the leak images, looks like the smartphone will come with large camera module and big flash. The phone will feature metal-built display similar to Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia X. The device expected to be powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and come with 4GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The handset might sport 5.1 inch full HD display and come with 19-megapixel rear camera and 13-megapixel for selfies. The device may come with 3000mAh battery and run on Android 8.0 and may come with 3.5mm audio jack. Sony Xperia will be priced around Rs 55,000 and is expected to launch in September 2017.

MICROMAX CANVAS INFINITY

Micromax Canvas Infinity is going through rumours from quite a few time now. The new infinity handset will come with 5.7-inch Full HD display. The device will run on Android 7.1 Nougat and sport 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and 5-megapixel front camera. The device will be powered by 2.15GHz octa-core Snapdragon 821 processor and 4GB of RAM and 32 GB OF internal storage which will be expandable up to 128 GB vis microSD card. The device will also be powered by non-removable Li-Ion 3,500 mAh battery, fingerprint scanner and will have the connectivity options including 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and a microUSB 2.0 port. Micromax canvas infinity is expected to be priced around Rs 24,000 and will be unveiled on 16th August.
